new tutorial cont.2

Well, from last week to this week on tutorials, I'm going to make a drastic change in the mood of the tutorials. Last tutorial I did a rainbow tutorial (new tutorial cont.) ,now I'm going to do a complete opposite. I'm going to make a storm look worse than it is.
  • First, (you can do this if you want) make a copy of the background layer. The background layer would most likely be that storm picture you'd want to darken. I did this just in case I didn't like what I first came up with, so I could delete the copy and not mess with the actual image.
  • Next, go to the burn tool, O for shortcut, lower the exposure panel at the top to about 15% and to the left change the *range panel from highlights, midtones, or shadows.
  • As for what I before about changing the range, just play around with the range and see what you like or come up with.
If you want to, you can over do it when applying burns on the *different ranges just to lower the opacity to get exactly what you want.

new tutorial cont.

Ive got another tutorial to show you guys. It's how to add a rainbow effect, and make it look natural in a image.
  • Go to the gradient tool>click the small arrow>choose special effects>click append.
  • Then, go back to the gradient tool, G, and choose "Russels' Rainbow"
you would have just put "Russels' Rainbow" on the gradient choices when you click append.
  • Make a new layer and drag the gradient tool around 75% across the image starting from the bottom right.
  • Then, on the same layer you'll want to make a selection of the sky through any of the selection tools, and click the little camera button in the layer panel.
  • go to blending mode and choose screen
If you want to move the rainbow around then click the chain that links the mask to the rainbow on the second layer and unlink it. Now you can move the rainbow without messing with the selection.

You can also maybe change the opacity if you want to, just to play around with it.

new tutorials

I've done three tutorials since the beginning of the photoshop class, and I've gotten time to put them on my blog. I thought that the tutorials were pretty cool and interesting. I'm basically going to start with the first tutorial I did for the first week: a cloud tutorial.
  • First, you want to make a background, it really doesn't matter how big just make it.
  • Next, you'll want take your foreground and background colors, and make one of them white and make the other some kind of blue.
  • Choose filter>render>clouds to get the cloud effect.
Press command F for different variations on the effect, and if you want to you can take a image of a bird or something like it and mask it to show it up in the sky.

stuff in Photoshop

Hey everyone,

We started doing selections and altering pictures today in photoshop, and it was pretty interesting. I took at least 3 photos and lightened/darkened them. The pictures were from resident evil, god of war, and finding nemo. Compare the originals to the redos, and comment on what you think.

Starting Photoshop

Well it's been 3 weeks and a day since I started 2-d illustration and I enjoyed myself. I created different things for projects. I made a water bottle design, a bluegrass poster, and  a wedding invite among other things.

This week starts a new class which is Photoshop and I'm sure it's going to be fun.
Anyway, here's some of the projects that I've done in 2-d illustration:

First week of 2-D illustration

It's the last day of the first week in 2-D illustration, and it's been hectic, well not for me, but it also has been fun. From looking at the syllabus that we got from our teacher the next three weeks are going to be fun. This week we've had a group project to do: make an illustration of one of the seven deadly sins, and make our own font. Our seven sins piece is going to be entered into the Festival of Design here at Keiser.

The next three weeks we're going to have two projects and homework sketches due at the end of each week. I think it's going to be fun. This week has been very interesting, and the next three should be good. Back to the first week, we had to get 5 pieces ready for the design festival, and i got mine very easily. My original pieces were five of the web sites that I had done so far. then, I learned that I had to have my seven sin piece entered in it. I simply took out one of the 5 pieces and replaced it with my seven sins piece.

I really like how my seven sins piece turned out. A friend of mine had showed me how to add shines on objects that need to look shiny, and I started to think that I could do the same thing with shadows. The seven sins image is all original, and illustrates a squirrel gathering and hording nuts.
